Shooting Stars head coach Salisu Yusuf has reiterated the club’s ambition of securing continental football after the Oluyole Warriors defeated Katsina United 2-0 in their latest Nigeria Premier Football League fixture.
Shooting Stars secured all three points at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, with Olanrewaju Ridwan opening the scoring before Qamar Adegoke added the second goal.
The victory provided a response after Shooting Stars’ previous defeat to Plateau United and gave the team an important boost as the NPFL campaign continues.
Yusuf was pleased with the way his players responded to lessons from their previous match, particularly in terms of discipline and tactical organisation.
The coach said the victory would give the team confidence ahead of two successive away matches.
Shooting Stars are also maintaining an ambitious target for the season, with Yusuf stating that the club wants to secure a continental ticket.
The Ibadan club will now have to demonstrate consistency on the road if they are to remain in contention for their stated objective.
The early stages of the NPFL season have already produced several closely contested matches, making consistency particularly important for clubs targeting the top end of the table.
For Shooting Stars, the 2-0 victory over Katsina United provides an opportunity to build momentum while continuing the process of developing the squad.
SMoR Sports Analysis: Shooting Stars’ next two away fixtures will provide another test of the team’s progress under Yusuf and could offer a clearer indication of their early-season trajectory.
