Leeds scores a late goal once more to take a five-point lead over Sheffield United in the Championship.

For the second consecutive week, Leeds United pulled off an incredible comeback to defeat Sheffield United, who were in second place, and go five points clear at the top of the Championship.

After turning Callum O’Hare’s header onto the bar and watching Tyrese Campbell’s follow-up strike the post, Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier palmed the ball into his own net to give the home team the lead in the first half.

Junior Firpo’s thunderous header from Dan James’ cross sailed past Michael Cooper in the home goal as the Whites rallied after the interval and rightfully tied the score.

After Firpo had flicked on a corner, Ao Tanaka then put Leeds ahead in the 89th minute. Joel Piroe then hammered home an incredible third from 20 yards out while the Blades were still stunned.

Leeds, who also overcame a late goal deficit against Sunderland at home last week, are now seven points ahead of Burnley in third place and undefeated in 16 Championship games.

With their own run of four straight victories coming to an end, Sheffield United is still two points ahead of the Clarets after this humiliating loss.
