Man City Maintain Perfect Start With 5–3 Win Over Sunderland

Manchester City maintained their perfect Premier League start with a thrilling 5–3 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Enzo Fernández opened the scoring before Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey responded with a brace. Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo restored City’s advantage, with Semenyo adding his second after the break. Brobbey completed his hat-trick, but Erling Haaland’s late strike finally settled an eight-goal thriller.

The victory leaves City with a 100 per cent league record after five matches and three points clear at the top of the Premier League heading into the international break. Haaland’s goal was his seventh in his last five matches, while Brobbey’s hat-trick highlighted Sunderland’s attacking threat despite the defeat.

Manchester United Rescue Late Point

Manchester United avoided another defeat after Matheus Cunha struck in the 89th minute to secure a 1–1 draw away to Fulham.

Fulham had taken the lead through a Lisandro Martínez own goal, but Cunha’s deflected effort rescued a point for United and prevented a third defeat in a week.

Liverpool Edge Bournemouth

Liverpool continued their unbeaten domestic start with a 1–0 victory over Bournemouth.

Alexander Isak scored the decisive second-half goal on Andoni Iraola’s return to his former club. The result gave Liverpool another three points and Isak his fourth league goal of the season.

Matchweek 5 Talking Points

Manchester City’s perfect start is the headline, but the weekend also produced major talking points elsewhere. Arsenal suffered a heavy defeat at Brighton, Chelsea were beaten 3–0 by Brentford, while Liverpool continued to collect points under new manager Andoni Iraola.

With the first international break of the season now arriving, City sit three points clear at the summit, while the dropped points by several rivals have reshaped the early Premier League picture.
