The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially released the fixtures for the men’s and women’s categories of the 2026 President Federation Cup following the draw ceremony held at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja.
The draw marks the beginning of another exciting edition of Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious domestic football competition, with clubs across the country set to battle for national glory.
NFF Assures Fair and Transparent Competition
Speaking during the draw ceremony, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, stated that the draw procedure followed the same format used in previous editions of the competition.
Dr. Sanusi explained that this year’s tournament structure would be more straightforward, as no team was granted automatic qualification or bye into the next round.
He assured participating clubs, officials, and football stakeholders that the competition would be conducted on a fair and level-playing field, stressing that all regulations guiding the organization of the tournament would be strictly enforced to ensure transparency and credibility throughout the competition.
Kwara United Seeded Number One
Defending champions Kwara United were seeded number one during the draw, while last season’s runners-up, Abakaliki FC, were placed at number 64.
As tradition demands, the President Federation Cup will be played strictly on a knockout basis, with teams needing victories in every round to progress toward the final.
The competition is expected to produce intense fixtures and potential upsets as clubs from across Nigeria compete for one of the country’s most coveted football trophies.
Asaba Confirmed as Host City for Final
Dr. Sanusi also announced that Asaba, the capital of Delta State, will host the grand finale of this year’s President Federation Cup.
The choice of Asaba is expected to add excitement to the competition, with football fans anticipating a colorful and entertaining final in one of Nigeria’s growing football destinations.
President Federation Cup Continues Rich Tradition
The President Federation Cup remains one of the most historic football competitions in Nigeria, providing opportunities for clubs from different divisions to compete on the national stage.
Fans across the country will now look forward to the commencement of the tournament as teams begin their quest for silverware and continental qualification spots.
