Football Players’ union leaders from across Nigeria’s football community have converged in Abuja to express their support for the ongoing football reforms being championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Sports Commission, NSC.

Among those present are prominent players’ union leaders and football stakeholders, including Chikelue Iloenyosi, Eldema Fuludu, Tijani Babangida, Dahiru Sadi, Barry Bote, Harrison Jallah, Magaji and Patrick Pascal, among others.
The leaders described their gathering in Abuja as a demonstration of unity and a collective commitment to supporting efforts aimed at repositioning Nigerian football.
Speaking on the development, Chikelue Iloenyosi said the players’ union leaders were in Abuja to support the reform process, stressing that they remain united in their desire to see positive changes in Nigerian football.
“All of us are here in Abuja to support the good work of reform. We are one,” Iloenyosi said.
The union leaders noted that their support for football reforms is not new, pointing out that they have consistently advocated for meaningful changes in the administration, structure and development of the game.
According to them, the current reform drive provides an opportunity to address longstanding challenges in Nigerian football and establish stronger structures that will better serve players and other stakeholders.
Their position also signals a willingness by the players’ union leadership to work with the NSC and other relevant authorities in building a more effective and sustainable football system.
The leaders maintained that unity among players, administrators, unions and government institutions will be crucial to achieving the desired transformation.
